Rockettes Anniversary Recap & Holiday Workshop

There is nothing like New York City this time of year to get me in the holiday spirit. The chill in the air, decadent window displays, dining at Balthazar, bubbles and cocktails at Del Frisco’s…then throw in some of the most creative and talented people in the entertainment industry (who just happen to be some of my closest friends) on opening night of The Radio City Christmas Spectacular - and whoa la, the magic happens!

I just got back from visiting New York and this trip in particular was very magical for me. The Radio City Rockettes were celebrating their 90th Anniversary and Rockette alumnae of all ages (the oldest dancer attending the event was in her 90’s - amazing!) gathered from all over the nation to reunite and share memories of performing on the “The Great Stage” at Radio City Music Hall. I can’t express how honored I am to have been part of such an iconic and historic dance troupe. Check out all my pics below.

Seeing familiar faces that still work at the Music Hall and getting to reunite with others that have moved on to other great accomplishments warmed my heart. I was reminded how special these people are to me as they served as my family away from home during my time as a Rockette. We spent many a holidays together doing 3 - 4 shows a day and creating our own special holiday traditions in our dressing rooms, backstage and during rehearsals. The experience inspired me so much that as soon as I got home I decorated my house and thought, “Why not bring a piece of my New York family home to share with my Austin family?”

Workshop!

I hope you will join me for a festive holiday Rockette inspired workshop on Saturday 12/19 from 1:15 pm - 2:45 pm. I will be teaching a beginner Rockette-style dance and kick line. Learn all the secrets of how to perform those eye high kicks with precision while getting a great workout! Please bring tennis shoes or dance shoes (no tap shoes). Ages 16 and up are welcome. To register, please purchase online, email us at info@dancersshape.com or call the studio at 512-382-9150.
