I need to preface this post by admitting that I’m no yogi. I’ve always been a Pilates gal. But after my experience at Dancers Shape, I think I need to make Sunday yoga a regular part of my fitness schedule. Yoga at Dancers Shape helps elongate muscles and rid the mind and body of stress while strengthening joints and improving flexibility. After an hour in class, you’ll feel a renewed connection between your body and mind.
The class structure is about half vinyasa flow and about half deep stretching. The class is perfect for yoga beginners or advanced practitioners. My instructor was great about offering modifications based on skill level. Here’s a preview of what to expect in the Dancers Shape yoga class:
- Downward facing dog,
- Warrior II,
- Tree pose,
- Standing forward bend,
- Corpse pose (I love this pose at the end of a tough class.),
- Triangle pose,
- Cat and cow, and
- Chair pose.
Of course, you can always move into child’s pose when you feel those muscles burning. Give the class a go. It’s a wonderful way to decompress and rid your body of tension.
