Austin Staycations

As we head into the last month of Summer, and unpack our suitcases from our final summer vacay, it’s easy to feel a little blue about those grueling fall schedules right around the corner. Why not keep the summer spirit alive for just a bit longer, and have all that vacation fun right here in our hometown? (The weather will most definitely be warm for at least another few months!) Kick those “back to school blues” with these fun warm weather staycation ideas.

Krause Springs

About an hour outside of the city limits, these springs are great for swimming. Krause is naturally beautiful and a great place to cool off in the heat of the summer. Pack a picnic lunch and make a day trip out of it, or pack your camping supplies and stay overnight.

Kid Friendly

For the kids, (or your inner child) stay inside the city limits and have fun with “old school” activities such as Peter Pan Mini Golf or Playland Skate. Make a theme night of it, and dress up in your best 80’s gear to re-live the good ole days.

Fredericksburg

This charming town is just a couple of hours away, has great shopping, wine tasting tours, and cute bed and breakfasts to stay overnight. Have dinner at a beer garden while listening to Polka and dance the night away!

Active Austin

If you are looking to have a great time while being active try stand-up paddle boarding on Town Lake or climbing the steps to Mt. Bonnell. Beautiful scenery right here in our city, and the chance to burn a few calories while having a blast, who could ask for more?

Spa Day

Sometimes you just need to be pampered (and stay indoors!) before getting back into the grind. Take a spa day for yourself, and do some stress free relaxing activities. Take a Yoga class at Dancers Shape, and then head around the corner to get a massage from Myo or a pedicure from Embellish. Finish off the day with a cup of tea at The Steeping Room - nothing will help you feel more refreshed!
